Rambling, beamed and flag stoned, this 12th-century Bed and Breakfast is as much a haven for reflection and good company today as it was to the monastic community who once lived there. Both house and hostess are unpretentious and friendly; Jane adds her own special artistic flair. Find Venetian-red walls in the low-ceilinged, time-worn living room with 14th-century fireplace, a deeply authentic four-poster bedroom with undulating oaken floor. Breakfasts are organic, local and very good: Alastair pronounced this “one of the best breakfasts ever”, The bewitching walled garden perfectly complements Jane’s ancient home… a place of peace and a wonderfully personal creation all in strict organic principles. A bounteous blend of formal touches with shrubs, small trees and climbers allowed to express themselves freely. A Mimosa tree greets you at the little gate on the lane overlooked by the Castle, mature espaliered fruit trees line the path to reach Jane’s most formal touch the square knee-high hedged box garden. Informally planted herbaceous borders and a small lawn in front of the house complete the picture. Through an archway you can wander into the church grounds next door.
The extensive gardens are delightfully tranquil. The house is attached to St. Georges church at one corner with private access to its’ lovely memorial garden. The church clock strikes the hour.
Jane’s friendly dog Earwig also lives at the house with her.

We pride ourselves that our produce is Organic, Fresh, Locally Sourced where ever possible, and Homemade, so our breakfast not only looks good but tastes good.
Allocated Parking is available in an open garage. Additional unrestricted parking is also available on the road outside the cottage.
